A town built on tin

Ipoh grew on the tin of the Kinta Valley. Mining money paid for the shophouses, the railway and the civic buildings families still walk past today.

Across the road from the station, the Town Hall (completed 1916) was designed by the same architect. Our story The Railway That Made Ipoh Rich tells how the line carried tin to the coast.
